Author Signing: Mauri by Merryn Jones with illustrations by Isobel Joy Te Aho-White

Readers are invited to visit the store to meet author Merryn Jones and illustrator Isobel Joy Te Aho-White as they introduce their beautiful new book, Mauri. Meaning “spirit”, Mauri celebrates the life force that connects us to the natural world through the Māori creation story of Papatūānuku (the Earth Mother) and Ranginui (the Sky Father). As Papatūānuku awakens, Ranginui calls upon their divine children to bring the rain, sunshine, wind and moonlight needed to nurture life. One by one, the children offer their gifts, helping forests and creatures flourish in a world filled with life and harmony. Richly illustrated and presented bilingually, this enchanting picture book celebrates the beauty and interconnectedness of nature in the earliest moments of life on Earth.
