Bookshop Day at Chicken & Frog Bookstore

This Bookshop Day, families can celebrate the great outdoors with a community day dedicated to nature, adventure and getting active. Jono from NZ Fun Adventures Camping will be on hand to pitch a bivouac and showcase camping equipment, food and family-friendly activities inspired by adventures in the Tararua Ranges. Award-winning author Paul Adamson, whose books include Beginner’s Guide to Hunting and Fishing in New Zealand and Get Outdoors, will also be there to talk about outdoor activities and share his enthusiasm for getting outside and enjoying adventures with family. Visitors can discover a selection of nature and outdoor books, including Emilie Walks Te Ara Roa, Hooked, Mia and Leo Go Wild and books by Bear Grylls. There will also be a coffee cart and sausage sizzle to keep everyone fuelled throughout the day. Visitors can also collect the My Personal Penguin 2026 figurine. No registration required.
