About this event

Telling Tales is celebrating Bookshop Day 2026 with a day packed with bookish treasure hunts, activities and spot prizes. Anyone who arrives in costume will also receive an automatic prize. Families can drop in at any time on Saturday 10 October to join the celebrations. Urban Activity Workshop As part of the Bookshop Day festivities, Telling Tales is hosting a special Urban Activity Workshop with Rachel Haydon, CEO of Orana Wildlife Park and author of the upcoming The Urban Activity Book. Children will get a sneak peek at activities from the new nature activity book during an adventurous exploration around the BNZ Centre. The workshop will challenge young participants to spot shapes and letters in the urban environment, discover hidden faces in streetscapes and take part in a nature bingo activity. The workshop takes place at 1pm on Saturday 10 October and is aimed at children aged 5–12 years. The workshop is free, but registration is required, with places limited. Parents or caregivers must attend. To register, email Telling Tales with the number and ages of children attending. A waitlist will be available if the workshop reaches capacity.
