About this event
CREATE A BOOK TOGETHER Being Mana | Te Ora Mana Workshop 4 of 4 Be part of the creative journey behind Being Mana, the third book in The Light Library’s Threads of Becoming series. Local author Emma Hinton and illustrator Nicky Hartley will guide tamariki and whānau through a hands-on creative workshop where participants will make their own painted image using natural pigments. These individual artworks will then be brought together with words and stories from the group to help create the illustrated pages of the new bilingual book. You’ll begin by mixing and working with natural pigments to paint your own image. You’ll then join a shared creative circle, where your artwork can be layered and combined with others to create a larger collective work. Words and stories from the workshop will become part of this process, helping shape the visual storytelling of Being Mana. This is a chance to become part of the book itself. Everyone who contributes will have their name included in the published book and will receive a copy when it is released, along with an exclusive limited-edition print before publication. Bring along: Your imagination, a love of stories and a supervising caregiver (if required). A creative and collaborative workshop for tamariki and whānau, celebrating storytelling, connection and the joy of making something together.
