About this event
Libraries, museums and archives are often seen as guardians of our collective memory, but who decides which stories are preserved, whose voices are heard and how our cultural identities are represented? Join Dr Grace Gassin (Between Dreams: Resistance & Representation in Asian Aotearoa), Damien Levi (Tāmaki Makaurau 2025: Essays on Life in Auckland) and Hanahiva Rose as they explore the evolving role of curators and editors in shaping how we understand our past and present. In a world where truth, representation and cultural identity are increasingly contested, what does it mean to preserve and present an authentic story? The conversation will be hosted by Kerry Ann Lee. Accessibility: Please note that the venue is not wheelchair accessible. This event is part of VerbCrawl, a one-night literary festival that brings the streets of central Pōneke alive with writers, readings and literary happenings.
