Lighten Up

After a lifetime of being told they can’t take a joke, pip adam has turned the experience into kluge, a book written in the style of a stand-up comedy special. In conversation with Hugo Grrrl, pip explores how comedy works, who gets to laugh at whom, and how humour can be used as both a form of resistance and a weapon in contemporary culture. Expect a thought-provoking discussion that challenges assumptions about comedy, offence and the politics of laughter. Where to buy the book: Pick up kluge from VerbCrawl’s official bookseller, Unity Books, or the venue host, Aurelia Books. Accessibility: This venue is wheelchair accessible. This event is part of VerbCrawl, a one-night literary festival that brings the streets of central Pōneke alive with writers, readings and literary happenings.
