Discover Material Distance, a limited-edition artist book that brings together poetry and visual art in a thoughtful collaboration between Louise Stevenson and Jodie Dalgleish. Developed over several years through countless exchanges between New Zealand and Europe, the project began as a reflection on New Zealand’s geographical isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the collaboration evolved, it expanded to explore themes of distance, connection, uncertainty and loss, incorporating responses to the climate crisis and the Russia–Ukraine war. Combining poetry, art and carefully considered book design, Material Distance is both a creative exploration of contemporary global concerns and a celebration of artistic collaboration across borders. Designed by Katie Kerr and crafted by Design Bind, this beautifully produced artist book is limited to just 45 copies, making it a rare and collectable publication. Visitors are invited to experience the book in person, meet Louise Stevenson and Jodie Dalgleish, and hear more about the creative process behind this distinctive project. Light refreshments will be provided, and everyone is welcome.
