- About this event
Join acclaimed Māori historian and author **Aroha Harris** for a special evening at the National Library of New Zealand in Wellington, celebrating the release of her new book, We Are What We Write, published by Bridget Williams Books. Spanning more than two decades of thought-provoking writing, this compelling collection brings together essays, public lectures, personal reflections and tributes that explore Māori history, identity and the enduring connections between people, place and memory. From intimate whānau stories and the wisdom of kuia to Māori land struggles, activism and evolving Māori–Crown relationships, Harris offers a rich and deeply human perspective on the experiences that have shaped Aotearoa. Her writing celebrates the resilience of Māori communities and the importance of remembering, recording and sharing their histories for future generations.
