About the bookshop

Browsers Books is a long-running, independent second-hand bookshop in Hamilton, known for its extensive collection of pre-loved titles, rare books, and strong New Zealand and Māori sections. Browsers has been serving fellow book lovers since 1996, when founder Rachel Pope turned her dream of owning and running a second-hand bookshop into reality, opening the doors in May that year. Since 2008, Browsers has been 100% locally owned and operated, continuing to provide a relaxed and welcoming browsing experience for readers, collectors, and anyone in search of an unexpected literary find. The entire team shares a genuine passion for books - they are voracious readers with a wealth of knowledge across their areas of expertise, always ready to help customers discover their next great read.
